Marmi di Carrara S.r.l. has worked marble in Carrara since 1956. It has quarries in the Carrara marble basins and supplies blocks, slabs, tiles and cut-to-size works in marble, granite, onyx, travertine and natural stone, in Italy and abroad.
The Apuan quarries and the block yard
A team of experts works every day in the quarries of the Apuan Alps to select the best blocks of Statuario, Bianco Carrara, Gioia, Arabescato and Calacatta. The blocks reach the yard, where they are checked one by one and squared; from there they go to the gang saws for slabs and then to bridge saws and waterjet for finished pieces. The technical staff turns the architect’s drawings into working drawings.
From block to slab
The material is chosen on the block or on the slab, with photographs of the lots available at that moment: every block is different and the veining is decided before cutting. Statuario, Calacatta, Arabescato, Bianco Carrara and Bardiglio come from the Apuan Alps; the other materials from selected quarries around the world.
Bespoke stonework
Floors, wall cladding, stairs, bathrooms and kitchen worktops are cut and finished to drawing. Washbasins and bathtubs are carved from a single solid block; lightweight marble panels are used for ceilings, furniture, yachts and lifts; onyx and translucent marbles can be mounted on glass and backlit.
Projects in Italy and worldwide
The project archive includes private residences, hotels, boutiques, yacht and cruise-ship interiors and public spaces: from Monte Carlo to London, Paris, New York, Moscow and the Middle East. The project photographs are on this site, without the clients’ names.
Choosing the stone, with AI too
The Marble Engine is the set of AI tools by Marmi di Carrara: it recognises a stone from a photo, compares materials, simulates a room and prepares the quotation request. The final choice is always made on real photographs of the slabs.
Exclusive materials and facilities
Besides the Apuan marbles, the company looks for rare and precious materials in their countries of origin, where its geologists select them at the deposit: among those offered exclusively are Verde Malachite, Rosso Erika, Desert Stone, Travertino Italiano Navona, Rosso Damasco and Absolute Black. The site covers 30,000 m² of production areas and offices, with a gantry crane in the yard, block-squaring machines, gang saws for marble and granite slabs, resin lines, bridge saws and waterjet. Architectural pieces of artistic value are finished by hand by sculptors.
